National basketball Boys champions Upper Hill will open their campaign against hospital Hill as the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) Term One games Nairobi region kicks off today at Nairobi School and State House Girls today in hunt of tickets for the national championship next month.

It will be a battle of the hills in the opening match of Pool A at State House Girls grounds when the multiple national champions take on Hospital Hill before facing off Muhuri Muchiri in their second match.

Upper has remained the unchallenged basketball giants in the country and only Maseno School has managed in the recent past to wrestle the title away from the Metropolitan boys during the 2014 edition.

In Pool B, Highways Secondary will entertain Lenana School and Strathmore respectively today as Starehe Boys lock horns with St Aquinas in Pool C. Aquinas will finish their campaign against Eastleigh Boys. Last year’s national second runners up at the national Alliance Boys are visibly missing in action in this year’s edition.

Nairobi basketball girls champions Buruburu have been drawn in a rather easy Pool A alongside inexperienced Raka Educational Centre and Ngara Girls while rivals Parklands Arya are in Pool B against Kayole South and Moi Girls.

Buruburu will tip off their campaign against Raka as Arya take on unfamiliar rivals Kayole South in the battle for Nairobi supremacy.

In rugby 15’s Upper Hill will be looking to replicate their last season performance at the regional that saw them qualify to the nationals where they finished fourth despite being their first attempt to make their mark in fifteens.

Changes to realign the school games by KSSSA came as reprieve to Upper Hill in Rugby in both rugby and Basketball since their arch rivals in the now defunct Metropolitan region Laiser Hill Academy have been moved to the old Rift Valley region.

Upper’s main challengers in Pool are Aquinas, and St Mary’s who will be hoping to play to give the former a run for their money in Nairobi region Rugby that will be staged at Nairobi School Grounds.

In hockey heavyweights Moi Girls face Buruburu and Mt Laverna in Pool A respectively after which Buruburu will take on Laverna to determine who qualifies to the quarterfinals. Parklands Arya will have a busy day in office with three matches on the cards in Pool B. Arya have a score to settle against Precious Blood, Kianda School and Hill Crest at State House Girls today.

Boys hockey has several matches lined up for today with last year’s losing finalist Upper Hill going head on against Highway and hosts Nairobi School in pool C while Starehe , Makongeni and Hillcrest
