AFC Leopards has terminated the contract of Belgian Coach, Ivan Minnaert with immediate effect. Ezekiel Akwana and Nicholas Muyoti will now assume charge on interim basis.
Newly appointed club chairman, Dan Mule, insist that the decision to fire Minnaert was based on the fact that the team has been registering dismal results of late.
“We have terminated his service to the club with quick immediate effect. If u can recall when Minnaert came in, we were in position two and know we are in tenth. We are out of GOtv Shield and Top 8 so as we are talking, we are not certain whether we are to be relegated or we will survive,” Mule emphasized.
Mule expressed that they will choose before the end of the season whether to name a local or a foreign-based coach to assume control.
“We will choose before the end of the season on whether to look for a local successor or wander abroad. Minnaert was designated in February, however, has subsequent to indicated little respect of his agreement with the club,” he said.
Before joining Leopards, Ivan cut off his four months spell at Rayon Sports for talks with AFC’s top officials that at last turned out successful.
