In the wake of asserting a Gor Mahia’s scalp in GOTV shield Round 16, Nzoia United head coach Bernard Mwalala believes his charges have the ability to reach this year finals.
Nzoia United, who have been in impressive form in the National Super League (NSL) this season, staged a noteworthy surprise after eliminating Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia out of the competition by a lone goal scored from a well taken Penalty by Edgar Nzano’s.
Mwalala hailed his charges for a job well done saying that it was a flawless chance to demonstrate their determination to ensure they are promoted to the Kenya Premier League at end of the season.
“I need to praise my team since they put forth a valiant effort since we understood we were going to face Gor Mahia the confidence went a step higher plus I had told them it was a perfect chance for them to demonstrate that they can play in the KPL next season and do well,” he said
The Bungoma based side is set to face Ulinzi stars another KPL side in the quarter-final stage and Mwalala conceded that the subsequent round will be difficult but believes his side can cause another upset against the soldiers.
“It will be a difficult game but told the boys that everyone is watching us now after beating Gor Mahia and it is important to maintain the good performance in the league and at the same time when we play against Ulinzi stars I am sure the team can cause another upset despite being underdogs in the tournament and it is my wish to win the tournament” he added
